Journaling my week.

What a week?! Just as my employer increases from two to three work-days a week this week, the tube went on strike. It was my first ever tube strike experience. On Tuesday, I spent almost 2 hours on a bus to get into office, a journey that usually takes me 35 minutes. A return trip that costed me almost 4 hours of travel time within a day, money became immaterial. Productivity, from hero to zero with elevated physical exhaustion. Journaling my week, Wednesday wasn’t as perfect either with a couple more tube disruptions.

A tiring first three days, working from home today was such a breeze. Saved hours from travelling, I was able to accomplish so much more. Don’t get me wrong. I was really looking forward to work at the office. Connecting with colleagues in person makes work life so much more meaningful than just facing screen all day, but the whole tube strike thing put me off. So much time was wasted.

Aside from getting things sorted by remote working, I presented a few projects to the upper management team. They liked it, and asked for a copy of them for the first time. I am overjoyed. Since accepting this new job role in April, it hasn’t been a smooth riding experience. For the first time after close to 8 years within the same organisation, I am finally a newbie again doing something completely different.

Learning is a journey

A working mother that is constantly bounded by strict time schedule on both work and motherhood, resource challenge at work is the last thing needed on my plate. I really had to get organised at the highest level and put in extra hours in studying my clients and brands to make things work. Because it’s a new division set up, a helicopter view of ‘what’s going on’ is key towards creating a good division structure. Talking about price for passion!

So here I am, journaling the first milestone of my new adventure. Accomplishing something within the first three months literally puts me on cloud nine.
